It is great here in Coalinga… I understand more and more (conversation). At the beginning, I really had difficulties but it is gradually getting better. You can always ask and the teachers and other students will help you. If there is a word I do not know, I can ask, this is no problem at all.

I have already met great people and made friends.

My roommate is very nice and introduced me to all her friends on my first day. Besides, everybody here is fascinated that I come from Germany…

I also joined the musical club and had to sing solo in front of all its members and it cost me quite an effort to do so. If my great roommate had not been there, my start here at the college would have been much more difficult for me.

So as you will already have noticed I am really incredibly happy here!

My subjects are rather a wild mix: English, Human Resources, Criminal Evidence and Correct Interviewing and Counseling. They are in any case super-interesting and there is a student in each class who helps me.

I like it very much here… I have three really nice flatmates. Two of them are American and the third one is an international student from China…

During orientation it became clear that three out of my four subjects were already mandatory and you could only choose one freely. Mandatory subjects are maths, English (writing essays) and college and career success. In addition, I chose psychology. There are also clubs. Together with my new friends I registered for the choir, the international student club and horse-riding.

I only have courses from Monday to Thursday and then I have a long weekend. Up to now I have had to do a lot of learning at the weekends but next week the first round of exams will be over and then I will certainly have time for excursions…
